Price moves away from the point of control (the highest-volume price) and later returns to test it. The POC often acts as support or resistance on that first revisit.
How to identify it
- Clear POC from the prior or developing profile
- Price leaves the POC, then rotates back
- Reaction or holding behavior at the POC
Entry
Enter on the reaction at the POC in the direction of the departure.
Stop loss
Beyond the POC by a buffer of a few ticks.
Target
The prior swing extreme or value-area edge.
Invalidation
Price auctions through the POC and builds volume beyond it.
Does it work for you?
Textbook reliability means little until you know your own numbers. Tag your poc retest trades in TradeZento and it shows your win rate, average win and loss, and P&L per trade for this pattern, so you know whether to keep it in your playbook.
