Price probes beyond a value-area edge, fails to gain acceptance, and rotates back inside. The 80% rule suggests it may then travel to the other side of value.
How to identify it
- Opening or probe outside the prior value area
- Quick return inside with no time spent outside
- Two consecutive periods trading back inside value
Entry
Enter back toward value once price re-enters the value area.
Stop loss
Beyond the probe extreme.
Target
The POC, then the opposite value-area edge.
Invalidation
Price returns outside and builds acceptance there.
Does it work for you?
Textbook reliability means little until you know your own numbers. Tag your value area rejection trades in TradeZento and it shows your win rate, average win and loss, and P&L per trade for this pattern, so you know whether to keep it in your playbook.
